Northwest Arkansas Hauling Company

Waste Management's Northwest Arkansas (NWA) Hauling Company provides affordable, quality, dependable and safe waste collection services to residential, municipal, industrial and commercial customers in Northwest Arkansas.

Safety is a priority for the NWA Hauling Company. In 2003, the NWA Hauling Company received the National Safety Council, Ozark Chapter Safety Award for its commitment to employee and workplace safety.

These efforts are part of the hauling company's long-term goal of zero accidents and injuries. Its "Mission to Zero" program has zero tolerance for unsafe actions, decisions, conditions, equipment and attitudes.

The NWA Hauling Company has developed the following programs to assist with its "Mission to Zero" goals:

  • Health and safety contact information
  • Safety alerts
  • Safety advisories
  • Accident and Injury Management Systems (AIMS)
  • Safety Operations Assessment Review (SOAR)
  • Operations and Safety Rules Book
  • Manager's Safety Program Development Guide

Employees and management participate in safety certification training, which includes both classroom and on-the-job site instruction.

Waste Management also uses computer-based tracking systems to ensure compliance with both federal regulations and Waste Management's own high standards. These include industry programs to ensure compliance with federal U.S. Department of Transportation and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.

Fleet Maintenance

The NWA Hauling Company has a fleet of waste collection vehicles, most equipped with modern automated and semi-automated collection technology. A Transportation Compliance Plan ensures that the company is promoting the safe transportation of waste throughout local communities. This plan includes random company-provided inspections of the fleet as well as vehicle inspections by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department.

Waste Management uses JJ Keller programs to ensure compliance with vehicle inspections, equipment parts and accessories requirements, and driver responsibilities. It also provides Computerized Fleet Analysis (CFA) for preventive maintenance as well as Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for fleet technical concerns.

WasteRoute

Waste Management uses a program known as WasteRoute that helps determine the most efficient routing and staffing to ensure operational excellence
